This week we have finally heard some of Diana’s new tracks, and they are absolutely amazing! She performed at Ruby Lounge in Manchester on Wednesday, and Cargo in London yesterday, and both gigs have recieved outstanding reviews!
There were quite a few technical problems at the Ruby Lounge which meant Diana was forced to stop singing three times! Despite this, fans and press alike adore the new sound she has come out with. I picked just two reviews and they are quoted below, the first from Blackpool Citizen reviewing her performance at Ruby Lounge and the second from Londonist reviewing her performance at Cargo. THE ‘new’ Diana emerged with a powerhouse showcase revealing songs from her new album.
The gauche, quirky East Lancashire schoolgirl who shot to fame on the X Factor has been left behind, replaced by a sexy and confident performer who looks – and sounds – every inch a pop star.
The nine songs performed live for the first time – all written by Diana – demonstrate a talented songwriter with great pop sensibilities.
It’s towering electro pop with a massive Eighties influence.
Think the best of Girls Aloud meets Gary Numan.
The show in the intimate surroundings of the Ruby Lounge attracted a diverse audience made up of the committed, the curious and the converted.
They ranged from teenage girls and Indie boys to hardened rockers wearing Kiss tour T shirts.

Sound problems could have wrecked Diana’s return. The microphone refused to work before she‘d even sung a note.
Then twice during the show the PA system packed in mid song.
But DV rose above it, quipping “this is my worst nightmare” and urging the venue to buy another sound system.
Dressed in black shorts, ankle boots and vest top with Creme de la Creme emblazoned in gold she looked amazing, to use one of her own phrases.
And the songs reveal a confidence and maturity that make the album, due for release in March one to look forward to.
Kiss of a Bullet which opened the show has hit written all over it.
Others like Boy in Paris, Smoke and Love Sounds Better in French all went down a storm.
A reprise of her number one single Once got the place jumping but also revealed how much more mature the new material is in comparison.
We even got a trademark trumpet solo from Miss V on the final songs Mad At Me.

Sony’s campaign for Diana Vickers’ solid debut album, “Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree”, was a bit of a curious affair. At the outset, things went well, with both the record and its taste-maker , “Once”, hitting number 1. The promotional push, however, quickly slowed down and the second single (the underrated “The Boy Who Murdered Love”) stalled outside the top 30.

So, instead of trying to turn things round with a further single release from the album (and, to be honest, there was actually quite a lot to choose from), the label surprisingly decided to re-launch Vickers with a brand new song, an all-over-the-place cacophony called “My Wicked Heart“. Despite a live X-Factor appearance, the new track failed to re-ignite interest in the project and Vickers and Sony promptly parted ways.

It is understandable, therefore, why Vickers’ new mini-tour, which last night arrived at Cargo in Shoreditch, sees her looking forward rather than back. In fact, the only song from the “Cherry Tree” era to get a an airing was “Once”. The rest of the show consisted of all-new material from her forthcoming second album, which – for the time being – remains untitled and without a set release date (although speculation points towards April/May).

‘Boy in Paris’ is a track I worked on with the very talented David Gamson (who, in case you didn’t know, was in an awesome band from the 80s, Scritti Politti!) . What I love about it is that it reminds me of a kind of early Eurythmics sound with all the dark synyths but as a package is also a big pop song. I’ve worked with David Gamson on a lot of the album and I think this song gives a real flavour of where I’ve gone sonically with my new music.

The song has a big connection with me, as I wrote it on true events. Paris has been a big part of my year this year on a lot of levels and I can say that I have truly fallen head over heels for the place. In fact, I just came back from Paris last week shooting the album and single shots, and I can honestly say it was the best shoot I ever done on every level.

Now that Diana’s Spring/Summer 2012 range for Dee V has been released, it has recieved nothing but positive reviews in the tabloids and press! Just a few of them can be read below. Diana Vickers was once described by Cheryl Cole as ‘cute as a button,’ and judging by these amazing new shots from her Very.co.uk collection, we’re inclined to agree. Diana looks more gorge than we’ve ever seen her as she models her SS12 collection – and we kind of want to log on and buy it ALL. The collection features retro prints, cute midi skirts and cropped tops all of which is making us think Grease – which in our eyes is always a good thing. Oh, and that cream coat? If we could slip that on every morning, getting out of bed would be an awful lot easier. However, our favourite part of the whole thing is Diana’s hair. We just wish we could pull off the cute swirl on the top of our heads, too. *sigh* How long till pay day?

“Diana Vickers talks YOU through her Very sexy fashion collection, radishes and all”

Diana Vickers’ latest fashion line for Very.co.uk is out, like NOW! To celebrate the launch, the singer slash designer has spilled all – talking addictions and inspirations behind the 16-piece collection – starting with, err, radishes… “Vegetable prints were a highlight on the SS12 catwalks, which I thought was completely eccentric and so much fun.” “I found this amazing old curtain in a radish print, and instantly thought that’s a really cool print, let’s include it in the collection!” Dee V by Diana Vickers is the singer’s second collection for Very.co.uk and arguably her best selection yet (not that there was anything wrong with the last one mind). With prices starting at £29 – and ending at just £59 – it’s an easy way to tackle those spring trends without having sell your flat / car / Nan. Radish fan Diana continues: “I wanted to really play around with it [the radish print] – make the [radish] print bigger and better. It [the radish print] has ended up becoming a gorgeous 1950s style full-skirted dress which I’m in love with.” 1950s-style full-skirted dresses are an even bigger trend that radishes this spring – so someone (Ms Vickers) clearly knows what they’re doing. Radishes aside, is there anything else that Diana’s addicted to at the moment? “I’m obsessed with coats and jackets at the moment!” That’s that one cleared up then…hang on, there’s more…
“I can’t stop shopping for jackets and trying on other people’s jackets! I’ve invested in a good few recently, but I still really want a good long black jacket to wear in spring, so I’m still searching.” Erm, maybe you should design one yourself Dee V? Then we can buy that too. Then you can try ours on and all. Diana ignores us and continues: “My inspiration came from the 1950s and early 1960s retro style. I love all those old fashioned vintage shapes: lots of quirky prints and bright colours.” Ms Vickers may be a relative newcomer to the world of fashion but she’s certainly making waves – thanks in part to her Rockabilly new look.

DIANA Vickers stakes a worthy claim for a catwalk career as she poses for her latest clothing range. The singer, 20, smoulders as she wields a lolly and flaunts her midriff in some of her designs. Other snaps feature Diana modelling thigh-high socks and parading her bare legs beneath a coat. The bubbly singer proves herself to be a smouldering sight in front of the camera as she plugs her Dee V line for Very.co.uk. Despite parting company with her record label last summer, Diana has made great strides in other areas of business. She launched her first collection for Very last May, her second in July, and a Christmas collection followed in September. The online department store describes Diana’s wares as “an eclectic mix of vintage inspiration with a cute modern twist”. Diana is also making a name for herself on the cosmetics scene. Last year she was announced as the face of Collection 2000′s autumn and winter make-up line, helping to select such products as mascaras, eye shadows, lipsticks and false eye lashes. Furthermore, the busy bee has been working on her second album, due for release this year.

How are all my facebookers today? I have some very exciting news to tell you all. On Thursday I am going to be a special guest presenter on Blue Peter. As it’s only one month to go until Diana’s two gigs, the first in over a year, I’m sure you are all wondering when rehearsals for them would begin. This morning Diana let us know on her twitter she would be starting rehearsals this sunday! So who is going? How excited are you?!

Gonna do chores all week and get organised until SUNDAY when rehearsals begin! My god I’m so excited to start!

As announced last week, Diana decided to release two new songs, for free, for fans that have been waiting for her new album. Music To Make Boys Cry was recieved very well last week, with hugely positive feedback from everyone including celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, and today the second song has been released!
